I'll let Aaron Gold, the About.com Guide to cars, take a look at this topic in more detail, but the gist of it is this: The United Auto Workers might be looking at non-union plants as their next target for unionizing.
While wages are generally slightly lower at non-union plants, by most reports the workers at those plants have been content enough to not seriously consider unionizing. With dwindling numbers, it's possible that the UAW has set sights on these plants to boost membership.
